My home for this summer is Toolik Field Station on Alaska's North Slope. The picture above is from a hike I took near the station. Click it to see the full size panorama.

I am in the middle of an epic 100+ day stay here at Toolik. My beard is getting really long. I am here working as a new postdoc with Mike Weintraub. I met Mike when he was a postdoc in Colorado and he and I have very similar interests in plant and soil nitrogen cycling.

The project we are working on is an experiment to investigate the effects of changes in seasonality on arctic tundra ecosystems.

Project web page here >>

There is even some preliminary data.

The first chapter of my dissertation is out in print. Here's a short description on my blog >>

Just before coming to Toolik, I defended my dissertation on April 26 and my Ph.D. is now officially finished! And just before that I moved to Toledo, Ohio for this postdoc. Jackie and I will both be living there as of August.

Finally, I'm still planning to post wedding pictures on here, but I don't have the DVDs with me here in Alaska. Something to look forward to when I return!
