This started as an exercise in creating the "ugliest painting you can." When I first started painting this, it was upside down from the position that you're seeing it now (and it looked like a big horrendous abortion of a pink mutant flower). It wasn't until I flipped around a few times that I saw the figure that was to become St. George.
